 erena Levine is an American artist who has been making
quilts for more than twenty years. Although she began with more traditional
pieced quilts, her work has evolved over the past 10 years into the
pictorial appliqued quilts she now creates. Obtaining ideas from her
surroundings, Verena likes the effect achieved by the juxtaposition of many
different prints, and she uses the design and texture of the fabric to its
best advantage. Her facility with the scissors is extraordinary, conveying
lifelike and often whimsical images of people and animals in urban and
rural settings.
